EDUCATION

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”

- Dr. Seuss

AAC FOCUS:

Combatting hunger in schools and improving the accessibility and quality of education for the growing youth population in rural communities.

AAC ACTIVITIES: AAC supports primary school canteens to combat child hunger and rehabilitates school libraries to increase access to books and foster a love for learning.

Child hunger plagues many rural public schools in Burkina Faso. Hunger not only negatively impacts a child's physical development, but also curbs their learning and ability to focus. AAC ensures that school canteens can provide a daily hearty lunch for all of its students. In rural settings many children often walk long distances (5-7kms) to attend school and are unable to return home during the midday lunch break.

School libraries and community libraries are additional tools to increase access to education. Every child  should have the opportunity to pick up a book and read. Libraries offer safe-haven spaces and foster a love for learning that is often lost in areas of underdevelopment.

We support creating or rehabilitating school libraries so that children have standing access to an environment which encourages learning and imagination.
